THE STAR AND NIKON PAY TRIBUTE TO THE LATE KEN
OOSTERBROEK VIA A FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME WHICH IS OFFERED TO PROMISING YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHERS
Many ordinary citizens were incredibly brave in the build up to the 1994 elections. Added to this, their total dedication and talent made them quite extraordinary people.
A record of events would not have been possible without a team of very dedicated and brave photographers from The Star.
A special mention goes to fallen hero and photographer Ken Oosterbroek.
Ken joined the Star newspaper in June 1986 and for eight years covered the most precarious conflict situations in his daily line of duty.
Sadly, Ken lost his life on 18 April 1994 – just nine days before the 1994 elections took place.
