The 'Oscars of the Travel Industry', World Travel Awards has revealed it will stage its prestigious Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2014 in Abuja, Nigeria, on September 5th. The sumptuous Transcorp Hilton Abuja will host the event, which will welcome hundreds of industry leaders to the Nigerian capital.

Plett is one of the nominees as Africa’s Leading Beach Destination in the World Travel Awards

The World Travel Awards serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.
This is the 21st year of the World Travel Awards and Plett’s fifth nomination as a Top Beach Destination in Africa, previously nominated in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Plett, nestled within the protective arm of the iconic Robberg Peninsula, has some of the most beautiful and sheltered beaches along the South African coastline and offers beach-goers a choice of beaches including 3 International Blue Flag beaches, Robberg Beach, Nature’s Valley and Keurbooms Beach.
International Blue Flag beaches are an indication of high environmental and quality standards awarded annually to those that meet excellence in safety, amenities, cleanliness and environmental standards.
The beaches of Plett are also home to many popular water-sports activities including surfing, scuba diving and snorkelling, sea kayaking, stand-up paddling and whale and dolphin watching.
The rare pansy shell can also be found by wandering one of the beautiful sandy stretches. Recently having made an incredible come-back, the new Lookout Beach has added an exciting option for beach lovers.
