Constructed more than 70 years ago, the Loskop Dam, situated across a gorge on the Olifants River remains one of the largest dams in South Africa!

The dam wall was originally built between 1934 and 1938 and was built entirely by hand.  The canal system irrigates about 1600 hectares of farmland and runs down the left hand side of the river measures 480kms!  The dam itself is able to supply farmers with water for up to three years without rain.  At 100% the dam holds 348 million cubic litres with the surface area of 2385 hectares.

Enjoy the scenery, birdlife and game viewing by boat.  The resort is surrounded by the majestic Waterberg mountain range amid a nature reserve which is home to white rhino, leopard, giraffe, crocodile and hippo.
